Carnival Rewine Jamaica 2012 review

This was the second holding of Carnival Rewine.  The first outing was…..how do I put it……Abysmal!!!…. in terms of turn out.  However, like most people who achieve greatness, the promoters did not give up.  They did their homework and came again.

This year they had a plan.  They started the media campaign Soooo far in advance I was wondering if the date of the event had changed.  Careful promotion on social media was slow, constant and deliberate.  When the big night finally came and I walked in the gate I was happy to see a good sized crowd even at a relatively early hour.

By midnight the crowd was starting to cover the venue and the vibes started to grow.

Patrons had a nice variety of party favors (one of which is still on my cars rear view mirror as I type this) to choose from and the bars were easy to access with drinks included.

Bad Dawg sausages were on hand to kill the munchies if they arose and Eon and Robbie were around for body painting if desired.

The vibes at times were intense with almost everyone in the venue waving or jumping and all definately wining.  This may be due to the slightly young (compared to me) demographic which seemed to have boundless energy and took the line “we wining on anything” to heart!  Take a look at just a 30 second snippet of what I saw.

There were a few problems though.  The main one in my opinion was the venue.  Although it was spacious and in the heart of new Kingston, it was also rather dusty and difficult to “dress up” properly.  When I talked to the organizers, they conceded this and are looking for other possible venues now that new life has been breathed into their event.

I think that Carnival Rewine has found a formula for success and if they stick with it and improve on their weak points (venue)….their future looks very bright indeed!
